One Year In: How Team One Became South Texas's Largest Taekwondo Studio
One year ago, this floor was empty. Today, it's the largest Taekwondo studio in South Texas — full of students earning belts, training for competition, and building the kind of discipline and confidence that follows them out the door and into the rest of their lives. We wanted to take a minute to look back, say thank you, and tell you what's next.

Why We Built It This Way
When we opened in McAllen, the goal wasn't just to open another Taekwondo studio — the RGV already has plenty of those. The goal was to build something the Valley didn't have yet: a facility with the space, equipment, and coaching to actually train at a competitive level, while still being welcoming to a 4-year-old walking in for their very first class.
That's what you're looking at above — our full training floor, cardio and strength equipment for conditioning, a dedicated heavy bag wall, and mat space big enough to run multiple age groups and skill levels at once without anyone feeling crowded. It's built for real training, not just a converted storefront with mats thrown down.
A Year of Real Results
We're proud of a lot from this first year, but a few things stand out:
We grew from our first class to becoming the largest Taekwondo studio in South Texas
Our students earned real competitive results — including multiple National Champions, proof that our coaching isn't just talk
We built out programs for every age and goal: Lil' Champions, TKD One Classes, our Black Belt Program, a full Competition Team, and Adult & Lady Kickboxing
We became part of the McAllen, Edinburg, Pharr, and Mission communities — through school visits, local events, and a genuinely growing family of students and parents
If you want to see what that coaching actually produces, read about how Olympic-level coaching changes what's possible for your child — or check out our complete guide to Taekwondo in McAllen for the full picture of what we teach and why.
What Discipline and Consistency Actually Built
None of this happened by accident. It's the same principle we teach every student on the mat: consistent effort, class after class, is what actually builds something real — whether that's a black belt or a studio. We wrote more about that idea in how Taekwondo builds discipline on and off the mat, and it's exactly the mindset that got us here in twelve months.
To Every Family Who Started This Year With Us
Thank you. Genuinely. Whether your child walked in nervous for their first class or you signed up yourself to finally try something new — you're the reason this studio exists at all. Every belt test, every tournament, every "he actually asked to go to class today" moment from a parent — that's what this year was actually about.
What's Next
We're not slowing down. More students, more competitive results, more programs, and continuing to build out the largest, most complete Taekwondo studio South Texas has. If you haven't tried a class yet, there's no better time than our anniversary month to come see what we've built.
